On October 25th, Steve Nazar, a twenty-year-old Russian labourer struck and killed Louis Landy with an iron pipe during a robbery.

A trial was held between November 23rd - 24th, 1925 in the Court of King's Bench with Judge T.G. Mathers residing.

With no recommendation of mercy by the Judge, Nazar was found guilty and sentenced to hang on February 9th, 1926.

An order of the court on February 7th, 1926 upheld the sentence and Nazar was hanged at the Provincial Gaol in Winnipeg, on February 9th, 1926.
